My Story

Well over a decade ago, I was massively burning out from overwork. Crushing chest pains, intolerable headaches, irritability, omissions, and weeping in the staff bathroom became my daily routine. Then one day I was just too exhausted to work. At 38 years old, I became unemployable. I had nowhere else to go, and had to move back home with my parents. But after years of healing and inner work, I not only survived burnout, but thrived! I'm a joyful speaker, author, and coach on a mission to help stressed women physicians make new Mondays!


Dr. Woodhouse is a triple board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, and Obesity Medicine. As a Commissioned Corps officer in the U.S. Public Health Service, she criss-crossed the country for 8 years providing medical care to a wide variety of medically underserved communities and served in Hurricane Katrina. After completing her active-duty obligation, she continued locum work in a large hospital-based employed private practice system. As such, she has been a proud professional locum physician for over 20 years.

Dr. Woodhouse has authored a medical humor book, “Party Gown: A Doctor’s Laughable Advice,” and co-authored "Called to Lead: Success Strategies for Women." She also co-invented a device for manual wheelchair users to improve their mobility in non-pristine terrain.

A joyful and thriving burnout survivor, she loves helping occupationally stressed women physicians realize the power they possess over their life’s work. She lives in Atlanta with her wonderfully supportive family and is a colossal fan of books, exercise, laughter, good food, and singing loudly in the shower.
